SOS Children’s Villages is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been serving the world for our 60 years. Their mission is to create stable, loving families for orphaned and abandoned children. SOS Childen’s Villages provide mothers who give individual attention and guidance to each child until they become an independent adult. To date, they’ve raised 80,000 children in over 500 villages across 133 countries. SOS Villages outreach programs impact the lives of over 1 million people each year.

GE’s Crotonville Executive Learning Class, EDC, is proud to be partnering with the SOS Children’s Villages in Morocco (SOS Villages d'Enfants Maroc) to help support their mission. The Morocco organization has been active for over 30 years, hosts 5 SOS Villages, 1 SOS institution to help children and young people with special needs and offers 3 family strengthening programs for mothers in need who are raising their children alone.

Morocco SOS Children’s Village

The Morocco SOS Children’s Village has grown over the last 30 years and currently supports many children in need. The current statistics in Morocco are heartbreaking, but very real:
  • 30,000 children are abandoned or orphaned in Morocco

  • Each day, 24 children are abandoned at birth

SOS Children's Villages Morocco builds families for children in need:  children who are orphaned, abandoned or whose families are unable to care for them.  These children are given the opportunity to build lasting relationships wtihin a family.  The family approach is based on four principles:  each child needs a mother, and grows up most naturally with brothers and sisters, in their own house, within a supportive village environment.

EDC’s primary goal is to support the SOS Village's mission and current needs so they can continue in their efforts to provide every child with a loving home. Their efforts will be dedicated to SOS Children's Village of Ait Ourir, located near Marrakesh. The homes in this village are over 30 years old and require serious renovation. The substantial rainfall and floods during the last winters have resulted in significant water damage. In their current condition, the homes are not considered a safe environment for the families.

EDC participants will dedicate their time to make these houses a home again for the children (painting, building fences, etc.). In addition to repairing the homes, funding will also support the children’s education and their basic needs.

You can help! Any and all support is greatly appreciated and will go directly to support the partnership between EDC and SOS Children’s Villages in Morocco.
