P.S. 104 will create life long learners who achieve high standards by making good choices at home, at school and in the community. GE Crotonville Executive Education is partnering with P.S. 104 to help them recover from the impact of Hurricane Sandy so they can move forward with this mission.
How was P.S. 104 impacted? The school itself was not damaged, but the community was devastated. 30% of teachers and 50% of students lost everything. The student population comes from low to middle income families with minimal resources. Government help is slow to come as homeowners and businesses will be reimbursed first. The principal used their supplies budget to replace some immediate needs, but P.S. 104 still requires funding for other critical items.

The children and teachers lost essential items, their homes and belongings. The first priority is the children, but both require the following:
  • Backpacks, lunch boxes, workbooks and all other school supplies need to be replaced.
  • Clothing, shoes and jackets are needed so children and teachers can attend school.
The school is currently without internet service. Until this is back up and running they need alternative options for communication.
  • A walkie-talkie system for staff will make it possible for them to be able to communicate with one another.
  • They also need funds for copy paper, ink and postage to communicate with families.

Donation Levels/Impact for P.S. 104:

  • $You Decide – Personalize your donation to meet the needs of the school and your own gift level.

  • $25 Provides Postage – Postage is needed to communicate without internet service.

  • $100 Provide School Supplies – The school needs basic school supplies (copy paper, ink, etc.)

  • $200 Prepare a Child for School – A student receives a backpack, clothes, shoes, etc.

  • $500 Connect the Teachers – A walkie talkie system to communicate without internet service.
