MDC 2014 Classes
June's Class Gift - $2540
GE Transportation AAF "Raymond Clarke" Dare to Dream Scholarship Fund
The MDC June 2014 class joined together to support help Erie community students achieve their educational dreams as well as honor the memory of their friend and college, Raymond Clarke.
Together they raised $2540 with the potential double the impact after GE Matching for the GE Transportation AAF "Raymond Clarke" Dare to Dream Scholarship Fund. The scholarship becomes "endowed" or perpetually sustained after reaching $20,000. Prior to MDC's contribution the fund balance was just over $14,000. The goal to have the scholarship endowed is so close to being reached!
The scholarship is funded by monetary donations and is awarded to inner-city high school seniors matriculating to a trade school, college or university geographically located in the United States. It is named in honor of Ryamond Clarke, an engineer at GE Transportation whose humility, commitment to academic and professional excellence, volunteerism and mentoring left and indelible mark of inspiration on his colleagues and surrounding community.
The AAF has partnered with the Erie Community Foundation (ECF) to endow the scholarship. ECF is a collection of charitable endowments operating under the administrative umbrella of a single public charity representing over 600 endowments valued at approximately $200 million.
